Following the team’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Tuesday, Sadio Mané got into a brawl in the locker room and hit Leroy Sané in the face. As a result, Bayern Munich suspended Mané.
The 31-year-old former forward for Liverpool was fined by Bayern and would not be included in the team for the home match against Hoffenheim on Saturday. It was defined as a punishment for “misconduct” in a statement, but it lacked specifics.
Mané and Sané had a falling out during the match, and they were still at odds off the field. Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern fell to Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Champions League, their worst Champions League loss since that year. On Thursday, Mané and Sané engaged in joint training.
Mané is free to play in Wednesday’s return versus City thanks to the suspension. It remains to be seen whether Tuchel chooses to start the player in the match.
The Senegal international, who Bayern signed for £35 million following a stellar tenure at Anfield, has scored 11 goals in 32 Bayern outings but has missed a significant portion of the season due to injury.
