Edin Dzeko, a striker for Inter Milan, has signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahce, the Turkish powerhouse revealed on Thursday.
The 37-year-old will get 4.2 million euros ($4.6 million) per season from Inter, the team who defeated them in the Champions League final earlier this month in Istanbul.
Dzeko, who joined Inter from Serie A rivals Roma in 2021, had a contract that expired after he scored 14 goals for the team in all competitions last season. He has won Bundesliga and Premier League championships while playing for Wolfsburg and Manchester City in the past.
With 64 goals in 129 international matches, Dzeko is the all-time top scorer for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has scored more than 300 goals in club football.
Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Super Lig to their fierce rivals Galatasaray, hasn’t won the Turkish top division since 2014. Early in June, the team won the Turkish Cup, their first championship in nine years.
Dzeko will take over for Ecuadorian Enner Valencia, who left for Internacional in Brazil after finishing first in the Super Liga with 29 goals the previous season.
