Luther James-Wildin of Stevenage Fc has been given an indefinite suspension for…

Luther James-Wildin of Stevenage is “fine” following a terrible head-on collision with Wigan Athletic captain Carl Piergianni.

34 minutes into the League One match, which Boro went on to win 1-0 thanks to an Aaron Pressley penalty in the ninth minute, the teammates got together.

The full-back eventually left the field on a stretcher with an oxygen mask attached, bringing the game to a halt for 19 minutes while medical attention was provided.

The wonderful news was announced by his manager at the last whistle.

Steve Evans said: “My first thoughts when I got in the dressing room but the doctors assured us, he’s had his scans and come through that fine.

“Obviously, if you get smashed in the face by Piergianni on the side of the face, you’re probably going to be leaving the pitch and that’s what happened.

“But Luther is fine and that was my biggest concern.

“All the way through the second half, I was asking our medical staff for updates but the updates are positive.

Jake Forster-Caskey, a teammate, stated that it had made it difficult for them to stay focused.

“Obviously, we’re all worried and hoping that he’s okay,” he remarked.

The skipper enjoys making noise, but Luther is on our minds.

“It was difficult to get going in the first half because it was a little bit stop and start.

“The pause didn’t help either team get into their rhythm.

“We got the first goal [though] which was really important.”
