Gary O’Neil admits he would be ‘amazed’ if Hwang Hee-chan is available for Wolves’ Premier League clash against Newcastle United this weekend.

The South Korea international was forced off in the second half of Wolves’ 1-0 win over Brighton in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday evening.

Hwang suffered an injury during the warm-up before Wolves’ 1-0 win over Sheffield United last weekend but was able to start the game and play for 85 minutes.

However, the 28-year-old lasted less than an hour of Wolves’ FA Cup tie due to a hamstring problem and is now a major doubt for his side’s trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.

It was a tough team to pick because obviously Channy has felt his hamstring a little bit, which for a squad as small as this, especially in that area of the pitch, is a disaster,’ Wolves manager O’Neil said after his side’s win against Brighton on Wednesday night.

‘But I’m trying to pick the right ones to play and the right ones to rest meant it was a tough couple of days for us.

‘Channy’s [injury] doesn’t look too serious, but I’d be amazed if he plays at the weekend.
