The New York Giants have informed Ryan Anderson that he is not permitted to work in any capacity for…

Due to his infractions of the NFL Policy and Program on Performance Enhancing Substances, linebacker Ryan Anderson of the New York Giants will miss the first six games of the regular season without receiving compensation.

Anderson is qualified to play in the New England Patriots’ preseason game on Sunday.

Before joining the Giants as a free agency this offseason, Anderson played four seasons with the Washington Football Team as a backup linebacker.

The 27-year-old’s preseason and training camp have been quiet. Since leaving the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) training camp, he has seldom been observed. In two preseason games, Anderson has three tackles, a half-sack, and a quarterback hit.

It seemed like Anderson was firmly on the bubble of the roster when the ban was announced. Now, as the Giants reduce their roster to 53 players before the deadline at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, we will see if they like him enough to keep him during his six-game ban or if he is among the guys cut.

If Anderson is retained by the Giants, he can be activated for the Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on October 18.
