Donte DiVincenzo, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard for the New York Knicks, had a career-best performance on Monday night. DiVincenzo led the Knicks to a 124-99 rout at Madison Square Garden, scoring 40 points on 11 of 20 three-point shooting against the Detroit Pistons.

But DiVincenzo’s celebration was quickly overshadowed by Pistons head coach Monty Williams, who levelled a provocative claim against the Knicks star shooter.

Williams was understandably not in a good mood following another crushing defeat for the Pistons. After all, with their lacklustre effort on Monday, Detroit became the first team to record 60 losses this season.

Williams called the Knicks and DiVincenzo out for their shenanigans on Monday night, and it seemed like he was accusing them of stat-pumping:

Josh Hart, a forward for the Knicks, learned of Williams’ post-game remarks, so the frank veteran had to reply. Hart clapped back viciously at Williams and the Pistons:

That is cruel. Nevertheless, it’s also unquestionably accurate. Perhaps Williams and the Suns should have taken action to counter the Knicks’ play if they weren’t happy with it. Nevertheless, they didn’t.
