A journalist has accused Aaron Rodgers of anti-Semitism and is urging the NFL to suspend him from competition.

The accusation stems from the New York Jets quarterback’s appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, where he discussed the decision to dismiss Nick Bawden from the roster and shared his thoughts about Covid-19 immunizations, alluding to “puppet masters” that control the narrative and agenda.

Whilst he didn’t say anything outright anti-Semitic, alluding to someone controlling the media and direction of the media has been a way to target and harass Jewish people throughout history and a former political journalist seems to feel that’s what Rodgers did. “You know what, Aaron Rodgers?” Keith Olbermann said on X.com, formerly Twitter. “If you use antisemitic tropes like ‘puppet masters’ about people who criticize you for lying and advocating bulls**t and quackery? “That makes you the same as an antisemite. The NFL needs to suspend this idiot a**hole.”

Rodgers is yet to comment on the matter specifically relating to anti-Semitism and in his opinion, also weighed in on Covid-19 by appearing to claim that vaccinated people have less credibility. It isn’t his first time talking about the issue as he previously said he was “immunized” when he hadn’t been vaccinated. The 40-year-old, who is recovering from a season-ending Achilles injury, doesn’t believe in the shot as he advocates for bodily autonomy.

It’s a view shared by other high-profile athletes such as Colby Covington (UFC), Kyrie Irving (NBA) and Novak Djokovic (tennis) but it’s criticized as being irresponsible in the wake of a global pandemic that killed just shy of seven million people between 2019 to the present day.
