DE Montez Sweat Of Chicago Bears Has Been Given An Indefinite Suspension By Head Coach For…

In advance of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, the Washington Commanders have taken action. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Washington has agreed to trade defensive end Montez Sweat to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a second-round pick.

In the last year of his rookie deal, Sweat, 27, leads the Commanders in sacks in 2023 with 6.5. Sweat and fellow defensive end Chase Young had been called up by the Commanders.

Sweat was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has 35.5 career sacks, with a career-high of nine in 2020. In 2023, he is expected to surpass that figure.

Sweat’s extension was Washington’s preference, but the ownership shift derailed those plans. Josh Harris became the Commanders’ new owner on July 20.
