Theo Johnson of Penn State is accused of assault during a rumored fight.
The Lions’ tight end Johnson is charged with two misdemeanors related to a fraternity incident that occurred in February.

Penn State tight end A misdemeanor allegation of simple assault against Theo Johnson is related to an alleged incident that occurred at a fraternity in February.

According to court documents, State College Police charged Johnson with assault and criminal mischief on Wednesday. The date of the preliminary hearing is set for May 24.

The Centre Daily Times was able to get an affidavit of probable cause that purportedly showed Johnson hitting someone during an argument at the fraternity. Johnson, according to the police, was ordered to leave the fraternity because he was not sporting the wristband that was necessary for the celebration it was hosting. According to authorities, the individual who was reportedly struck by Johnson was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center and given a concussion diagnosis.

“We are aware of Theo Johnson’s accusations. These claimed behaviors won’t stand in for the principles and expectations of our program, and they will be dealt with. Since this is still a pending legal situation, we will not be making any more comments,” a statement from Penn State Athletics stated.

Johnson, a junior, started nine tight end games for Penn State in the previous campaign. With 20 receptions, he came in fourth on the team and grabbed four touchdown passes. Johnson did not participate in the April Blue-White spring game.
