The Wests Tigers are happy to announce that Alex Twal has extended his stay with the team by signing a new, long-term deal.
Already contracted for the 2024 season, the new three-year deal will see Twal remain in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2027 NRL season.
The 27-year-old prop made his NRL debut with Wests Tigers in Round 17 of the 2017 season and has made 124 appearances for the club in seven seasons.
He ended a 115-game try-scoring drought this season, crossing for his very first NRL try in Round 16 against Melbourne Storm.
The wild celebrations at Campbelltown Sports Stadium went viral, further endearing the Lebanon international to Wests Tigers members and fans.
Entering his eighth season at the club, Twal says he’s excited about the years ahead.
“This club means so much to me and I’m just so happy to extend my stay long-term,” said Twal.
“As a squad and a club, we still have a lot of goals to accomplish, and as a player, I have too. In a few weeks, I can’t wait to finish 2023 and go headfirst into preseason training. Twal’s consistency, in the opinion of head coach Benji Marshall, is a valuable addition to the group. “He puts in a lot of effort, gets ready ahead of time, and delivers every week,” Marshall said.
“We are excited to watch Alex continue to develop his football skills here at Wests Tigers; it’s great to have him here for the long run.” According to CEO Justin Pascoe, Twal has a long history of success both on and off the field. “We’re thrilled to have signed a new, long-term contract with Alex and his family,” Pascoe remarked. With this new deal, Alex will become one of a few players who have played with the Wests Tigers for ten or more years. That says a lot. Memberships for the Wests Tigers 2024 season will be on sale on Monday, October 23.
