Stephen Halliday, a forward, signs a two-year, entry-level deal with the Ottawa Senators.
On Friday, forward Stephen Halliday was signed by the Ottawa Senators to a two-year, entry-level contract. The franchise also announced that Halliday has agreed to an amateur tryout contract and will play the rest of the season with the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators. Halliday led the Ohio State University Buckeyes in assists (26) and points (36) as well as ranking second in goals (10) as he concluded his sophomore campaign. The Ajax, Ontario, native, 21, was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award in the NCAA player of the year category.
In a release, Senators general manager Steve Staios stated, “Stephen showcases a good combination of size and skill which is going to be invaluable to him as he progresses in pro hockey.” We’re happy with his development and that he’s chosen to begin his professional career with the Ottawa Senators organization as a playmaker who excelled in college. The Senators selected Halliday 104th overall in the fourth round of the 2022 draft.
