Less than three weeks remain until the Cleveland Guardians kick off their 2024 campaign. By agreeing to one-year contracts with all seven of its arbitration-eligible players earlier this offseason, the organization was able to avoid arbitration. All 25 of the Guardians’ pre-arbitration eligible players have accepted to one-year contracts for the 2024 campaign, the team said on X on Monday. The runner-up for American League Rookie of the Year had an incredible rookie campaign the previous year. In 25 starts for the Guardians, Bibee finished 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA, 141 strikeouts, and a 1.18 WHIP. The right-hander has made two starts this spring and is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA, six strikeouts, and a 1.29 WHIP.
Freeman played 64 games with the Guardians last season, hitting .242 with seven doubles, four home runs, and 18 RBI.
So far this spring, he is hitting .320 with eight hits, one home run, four RBI, and an .873 OPS in 10 games, and has made six appearances in center field.
