During the NHL Trade Deadline, the Winnipeg Jets added more players to their roster when they acquired sniper Tyler Toffoli from the New Jersey Devils for a 2024 third-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick. Toffoli has been traded three times in his career, yet no matter where he goes, he has always scored goals. In 61 games this season, the 31-year-old has 26 goals and 44 points. Half of his compensation was retained by the Devils.

Given the reported long line of suitors for Toffoli we wanted to see if this trade would go through in NHL 24.

Toffoli was having a similarly strong season in the simulation, and the Devils denied Winnipeg’s trade offer, saying they were totally unwilling to part with the Scarborough native.

The trade did go through when we played as the Devils and proposed the deal to Winnipeg as the Jets were ecstatic to make the deal. We did have to include a minor league player to make the contracts work.

Toffoli should provide some goal scoring prowess to an already strong Winnipeg team, and NHL 24 thinks they won the trade.
