Kyrie Irving can earn himself some money by playing vs. the Miami Heat, while the Dallas Mavericks can clinch the Southwest Division with a win.
Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks have a lot riding on their shoulders when they take on the Miami Heat on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT. Irving would be participating in his 58th game of the season when he takes on the Heat. Irving would receive a $650 million incentive after 58 games. The Mavs guard was sidelined for 12 games in December due to a heel injury that resulted from center Dwight Powell falling on him on December 8. Additionally, he missed six games due to a damaged right thumb.
Irving has played in 30 straight games, his most since 2016. The Mavs have gone 23-7 in that stretch, while Irving has averaged 26.1 points, 5.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds in his 30 consecutive games played.
Dallas (49-30) can secure the Southwest Division by defeating the Heat. With three games remaining in the regular season, it leads the New Orleans Pelicans (47-32) by a margin of two. In the event that New Orleans falls to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, the Mavericks still have a chance to win the division if they lose to Miami. Dallas’ winning streak of 15 games in a row began on March 7 at the American Airlines Center when they defeated the Heat 114-108. The Mavs’ up-and-down regular season would come full circle if they won the division title and advanced to the postseason, especially if they defeated the team they started their comeback against.
