Sir Garfield Sobers: Jason Holder, an all-round fast bowler from the West Indies, has committed to Worcestershire for the first five games of the forthcoming County Championship season. Holder, a former top-ranked all-rounder in the ICC Test rankings, will be available starting on April 5 at Edgbaston for Worcestershire’s inaugural County Championship match against Warwickshire.

The 32-year-old Holder, who won Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2021, is eligible for Kidderminster’s home games against Somerset and Durham as well as the away games against Nottinghamshire and Kent.

He is the most recent of several notable West Indian cricket players, including Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach, Vanburn Holder, and Andre Russell, to play for Worcestershire. At the Kensington Oval in Barbados in 2019, Holder scored a double century against England, one of his many noteworthy performances. “I always have a great time visiting England, and I’m excited to help Worcestershire start strong in Division One of the County Championship.” I am aware that Worcestershire and the West Indies have a long history of mutually beneficial player relationships, and I am hoping to leave my mark during the course of the five games.
