The final details of Billy Napier’s coaching staff for 2024 in Florida have been established and the paperwork has been filed.
Through a public records request, All Gators were able to receive contract copies for 10 of Florida’s on-field assistant coaches as well as a well-known off-field assistant on Friday. The copies revealed terms for three extensions, five new hiring, and a promotion that were signed the previous year.
Shortly before UF’s 2024 spring training camp started, Decoster was appointed to take Darnell Stapleton’s spot as assistant offensive line coach at Florida. He will share this role with Rob Sale.
Decoster held a variety of positions on college and professional coaching staffs before joining the Gators, including those at Nevada, West Virginia State, LSU, Old Dominion, and the Cleveland Browns.
He was an offensive line assistant with the Browns from 2021–2023 and an on-field offensive line coach at WVSU from 2015–16.
In November 2023, Chatman assumed leadership of Florida’s interior defensive line positions, replacing Sean Spencer, an initial appointment on Napier’s staff who was fired.
Defensive lineman Patrick Jenkins and Darius Hodges, who played for Tulane in 2023, were selected to the First Team All-American Conference under Chatman’s coaching. The Green Wave’s march to the conference title, which concluded in a loss to SMU, saw the pair combine for 13 sacks and 21 tackles for loss.
Before coming on staff at Florida and his year at Tulane, Chatman had a variety of on- and off-field coaching positions. He worked with former Gators defensive tackle Carlos Dunlap during his two-year NFL tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals.
