Contracts for new assistant coaches and staff extensions are revealed by Florida
Contract details for four newly hired assistants coaches on the Florida football staff, in addition to multiple coaches who recently signed extensions, were revealed Friday after the filing of a Freedom of Information request with the University Athletics Association, the results of which were obtained by Swamp247.
Florida’s executive head coach/co-defensive coordinator/linebacker coach, Ron Roberts, will receive $750,000 through Jan. 31, 2025, and his annual salary will increase to $950,000 from Feb. 1, 2025 through Jan. 31, 2026.
Roberts, who will work hand-in-hand with defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong, praised Armstrong following UF’s second spring practice.
“He’s brilliant. He’s very smart, you know, he’s gonna have a future to do whatever he wants in this profession. He’s gonna be tremendous,” Roberts said of Armstrong. “I’m just happy to be here to have the opportunity to help in ways, and that’s one thing you get with a chance to be older, you’ve seen some things. I’ve already made my mistakes, you know?”
Florida’s newly hired defensive line coach, Gerald Chatman, signed a contract through Jan. 31, 2026 that will pay him $575,000 annually through Jan. 31, 2025, and the contract will increase to $600,000 from Feb. 1, 2025 through Jan. 31, 2026.
