The Phoenix Suns have officially announced the addition of Isaiah Thomas.

Isaiah Thomas has officially signed a ten-day contract with the Phoenix Suns. From a news statement issued by the team: “Free agent guard Isaiah Thomas was signed by the Phoenix Suns to a 10-day deal today, the team announced.

In his most recent four games, “Thomas (5′-9″, 185 pounds) averaged 32.5 points, 6.3 three-point makes on 44.6% three-point shooting, 5.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals for the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League. After playing for 11 years in the NBA, Thomas was selected twice for the NBA All-Star team. In 550 games, he averaged 17.7 points and 4.8 assists while playing for Sacramento, Phoenix, Boston, Cleveland, the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver, Washington, New Orleans, Dallas, and Charlotte. The 35-year-old averaged 15.2 points and 3.7 assists in 46 games during his first stint with the Suns in 2014–15.”

Phoenix, which is presently 39-29 on the season, is hoping that Thomas will play a variety of roles while he is in the Valley because the Suns are still putting their squad together under his guidance. Backup point guard Saben Lee, meanwhile, has just four games left before his contract expires. There are little over ten games left in the regular season for the Suns. As Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic points out, if a team wishes to keep a player, they can sign him to two 10-day contracts before needing to sign him to a permanent deal.

When the Suns play the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, Thomas is anticipated to be available.
