The Oklahoma CIty Thunder added to their active roster on Saturday by signing Jack White, a former Nuggets forward and Duke alum, to a two-year deal.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to sign Australian forward Jack White to a conventional two-year contract, as reported by Shams Charania of the Athletic on Saturday. The contract’s specifics have not yet been made public. After playing for the Denver Nuggets on a two-way contract the previous season, White now plays for the Thunder. Before starting his NBA career, White played for four years at Duke University, where he was a teammate of Cam Reddish, RJ Barrett, and Zion Williamson in his junior year. He then declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, but was not selected. White then returned to Australia to play with Melbourne United until the Nuggets selected him in the 2022 summer draft.
The 6-foot-7 forward played 17 games for the Nuggets and 14 games for the Grand Rapids Gold, their G League club, during the previous season. White played just 66 minutes on the floor during his brief tenure with the Nuggets, and he only managed eight field goals. White, who played in 33.6 minutes per game with an average of 20.9 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 54.4% from the field, 40.9% from behind the 3-point line, and 73.7% from the charity stripe, was given a lot more playing time for the Gold. White also recorded strong steal and block percentages of 1.4 and 2.1, respectively.
The addition of White brings the Thunder’s active roster to a total of 18 players. Oklahoma City’s front office will have to decide on who to waive, or trade, to reduce that number to 15 players before the beginning of regular season play.
