Travis Konecny’s prolonged absence means that one of the main reasons the Philadelphia Flyers are expected to make the playoffs for the first time in two years will not be present.
Mark Borowiecki, a defenceman for the Ottawa Senators, struck Konecny hard on Saturday night, causing injuries. The team said two days later that he had sustained a concussion and would be sidelined in the near future.
The Flyers revealed in the same tweet that forward Oskar Lindblom and rookie Joel Farabee will be off on Wednesday before playing the Colorado Avalanche. It is expected that both will be prepared for the midweek match. After 30 games this season, Konecny has 11 goals and 28 points, which leads the Flyers in scoring. He has only missed three games in the last two seasons, so he has never missed a big length of time, but his concussion will probably keep him out of the game for a long time.
