The Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Omar Khan has finally agreed with the deal transaction of…

The Steelers signed defensive back Anthony Averett to a one-year contract.

Averett, a six-year veteran, took part in the Steelers rookie minicamp over the weekend on a tryout basis and was signed afterwards.

Averett has appeared in 51 career games, with 27 starts. He has 114 total tackles, 99 of them solo stops, three career interceptions and 23 passes defensed.

Averett was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, spending his first four seasons there. He appeared in 44 games for the Ravens, starting 21. He recorded 101 tackles, 22 passes defensed and three interceptions while in Baltimore.

Averett signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, playing in seven games, with six starts. He also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2023) and Detroit Lions (2023).

He has dealt with injuries the last two seasons, limiting his playing time.

“I had a couple injuries my last two years,” said Averett during rookie minicamp. “I’m finally fully healthy and I’m definitely in shape. I’ve got plenty of juice left.

Averett is no stranger to playing at Acrisure Stadium and is a fan of the atmosphere there.

“I love when they play ‘Renegade,'” said Averett. “I know everybody talks about that one.”

He played college football at Alabama where he appeared in 35 career games, finishing with 98 tackles, 71 of them solo stops, seven tackles for a loss, 17 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one interception.
