In a recent episode of his *QB Unplugged* podcast, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson offered a positive update on his recovery from the glenoid fracture he sustained in his throwing shoulder during the Week 10 win over the Baltimore Ravens last season. The injury, which required surgery, unfortunately ended Watson’s season prematurely.
Reflecting on his current status, Watson expressed satisfaction with his progress. “The situation is good,” Watson shared. “We’re in a great spot, right where we need to be. We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything is going pretty smooth.”
Watson’s injury occurred at a pivotal moment when he seemed to be gaining momentum in his Browns career, following a controversial 2022 trade from the Houston Texans. Despite the setback, the 28-year-old quarterback remains optimistic about his recovery trajectory.
“As long as I’m feeling well and the doctors and (physical therapists) and everyone are on the same page, we’re in a good spot,” Watson continued, highlighting the collaborative efforts of his recovery team as he continues to work towards a successful return to the field.
With ample time before the new season begins, Watson is focused on ramping up his throwing sessions and preparing for a strong comeback.
Watson’s recent seasons have been marked by a limited number of starts, totaling just 12 games over the past three years. This has been largely due to a combination of injuries and legal issues that have affected his availability on the field. As the Browns prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Winston provides depth and experience behind Watson, bolstering the team’s quarterback roster as they aim to build upon their previous successes and make a strong push in the competitive AFC North division.
