NBA insider provides interesting update on Los Angeles Lakers pursuit of star players…

**The most significant developments of this offseason so far are the hiring of JJ Redick to take over for Darvin Ham and the drafting of Bronny James in the 2024 NBA Draft.**

**At this point, it seems unlikely that there will be any major changes soon. This situation is far from ideal following the Lakers’ first-round defeat to the Denver Nuggets in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.**

**Despite the efforts of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, this version of the Lakers is not a serious contender for the championship as things stand.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the most inactive teams in the NBA this summer. In fact, they haven’t signed a single outside free agent yet.

The Los Angeles Lakers are not considering a trade for Brandon Ingram.

Earlier in the offseason, there were rumors connecting Los Angeles to players such as Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, and Klay Thompson. However, Murray was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in a major move, Young appears poised to stay with the Atlanta Hawks, and Thompson moved from the Golden State Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks.

**What does this mean for the Lakers?**

It means they lack the resources to acquire Lauri Markkanen from the Utah Jazz. Instead, the Jazz and Golden State are exploring trade options.

As for Brandon Ingram, who used to play for the Lakers and is reportedly available for trade, he would be a more affordable option than Markkanen. However, it looks like this move is also off the table.

“Lakers insider Jovan Buha from The Athletic doubts the possibility of a blockbuster trade involving Lauri Markkanen, saying, ‘I just don’t see the Lakers having the resources for that deal, nor have I heard of any interest in Brandon Ingram.’

While the Lakers could use a wing player to address last season’s struggles and LeBron’s role as a power forward, it appears that they currently lack the assets to make a major trade.
