Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver gets update on injury that will sideline him for Months…

Wilson is currently wearing a boot and it’s uncertain how long his recovery will take, but it looks like he will be sidelined for a significant period as the season approaches.

“He’s dealing with an ankle sprain,” Tomlin explained. “At this point, it’s being considered a week-to-week situation. We’re keeping him in a boot for precautionary reasons. I’ll provide more updates as he nears a return to the field.”

Although reports and Tomlin refer to the injury as an ‘ankle sprain,’ sources have informed PennLive that it is actually a high ankle sprain. While he is expected to be ready for the regular season opener, he will be sidelined for a significant period leading up to it. The Steelers plan to take a cautious approach with Wilson’s recovery.

The injury happened when Wilson was running a jet sweep, and cornerback Anthony Averett inadvertently rolled onto his ankle. Wilson was carted off and did not return to practice.

In Wilson’s absence, the Steelers will rely on Calvin Austin III and Quez Watkins to fill the slot role Wilson would have occupied. Although this setback affects Wilson’s immediate playing time as a rookie, his eventual return will be crucial for the team’s success, making his swift recovery highly beneficial for the Steelers.
