In Dončić’s video, coach Jason Kidd emphasized that the Mavericks “haven’t accomplished anything yet” as they pursue their goal of winning an NBA championship. Although Dallas has made it to the conference finals twice in the past three seasons thanks to Dončić’s exceptional performance, the All-Star guard will enter his first Finals as a significant underdog.
Dallas is returning to the Finals for the first time since 2011, when Dirk Nowitzki guided the underdog Mavericks to a surprising victory over the Miami Heat during LeBron James’ inaugural season with the team.
