Marion local Anthony Switzer looks back on his journey to the Razorbacks…

Arkansas football resumed fall camp on Wednesday morning. After practice, a standout from Football Friday Night spoke to the media.

Anthony Switzer, who joined Arkansas as a graduate transfer, started his career at Arkansas State. The Marion native accumulated 91 tackles for the Red Wolves between 2019 and 2021 before moving to Utah State, where he recorded 85 tackles last season.

Switzer is currently playing both linebacker and in the secondary.

“I knew they were going to let me be versatile to help the defense,” Switzer said during a press conference. “Given my experience playing various positions, I expected T-Will would move me around and I’d work with both Coach Woods and Coach T-Will. It’s different from getting off blocks by receivers; now I’m dealing with 300-pound linemen. It requires a different technique.”

Switzer also reflected on the opportunity to conclude his college career in the SEC.

“I’ve always dreamed of being a Razorback. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that chance out of high school, but I didn’t let that discourage me. I took a different route, and everything worked out in God’s timing rather than my own. I’m here now when I’m meant to be, and I’m thrilled to be home and make the most of this opportunity.”

Arkansas will have their second scrimmage of fall camp on Thursday, with the season opener scheduled for August 29th against UAPB at War Memorial Stadium.
