Ben Roethlisberger Provides Guidance to Steelers’ Broderick Jones.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a shift in their offensive line by benching former first-round pick Broderick Jones in favor of current first-round pick Troy Fautanu. This decision raises questions about when Jones might return to the starting lineup. In response, a franchise legend is offering guidance for Jones during this challenging period.
On the latest episode of his Footbahlin podcast, Ben Roethlisberger shared his advice with Jones following the news of his benching. “I understand he’s frustrated. The best approach for Broderick right now is to put this behind him. He should review the situation and determine why it happened,” Roethlisberger said. “Was it a matter of technique, or did the opponent simply outplay him? Sometimes these things occur. He needs to analyze the footage, assess his technique, and then move on. Dwelling on it will only create more issues. He needs to be prepared to step up and prove himself.”
Although Jones is still viewed as the potential franchise left tackle for the Steelers, the team is currently prioritizing their top five offensive linemen, which includes Fautanu and Dan Moore Jr. as the tackles.
After being rotated in for one series, Jones was sidelined due to three penalties and did not return for the remainder of the Week 2 game.
The future plans for Jones remain uncertain, but he will need to address his weaknesses and improve to regain a starting role in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are committed to supporting him with the necessary resources, but it’s up to Jones to heed the advice and seize the opportunity to prove himself.
