Bryce Harper of the Phillies questioned the umpire’s professionalism following his strange expulsion and…
Bryce Harper, the first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, was still fuming about his ejection in the first inning on Friday. After a brief exchange with home plate umpire Brian Walsh, Harper was unexpectedly thrown out of the game. His frustration didn’t ease after the game; when speaking to reporters, Harper criticized Walsh, comparing him unfavorably to other umpires and questioning his professionalism.
After the game, crew chief Vic Carapazza told a pool reporter that Walsh had initially warned Harper and had been quite lenient, but Harper continued to complain. Harper clearly had a different view, as he remained upset even after the game. It seems he has little respect for Walsh, who is in his second year as an MLB umpire.
