Nic Anderson injury update: OU football receiver may return for season debut against Tennessee.
It looks like OU receiver Nic Anderson is close to making his season debut.
Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold mentioned on Monday after practice that Anderson had been playfully hinting at returning over the past few weeks but hadn’t yet played. Arnold expressed excitement about having Anderson back on the field this Saturday.
“I talked to him about it today,” Arnold said. “Having Nic back will be fantastic. He’s a key part of our offense, a dynamic player, and we hope to get him the ball this weekend.”
Last season, Anderson recorded 31 catches for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Katy, Texas native earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention and was recognized as Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice in 2023, contributing in all 13 games with six starts.
Anderson warmed up before the Tulane game, but head coach Brent Venables noted he “just wasn’t quite there” afterward. Venables is expected to give an update on Anderson’s status during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.
No. 13 OU’s offense will need all the support it can get against No. 7 Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Norman on ABC.
