With another strong recruiting class in place, Clemson has the talent to compete at a high level. If they can perform to their potential, they could emerge as serious contenders for the College Football Playoff.

Dabo Swinney has pinpointed the passing game as a crucial area for improvement. He stated, “Our passing offense must get better this year if we want to improve. We need to be more dynamic and make significant strides.”

A key concern for the 2024 season is quarterback Cade Klubnik, who has yet to meet the expectations that followed his commitment to Clemson. For the Tigers to contend for a playoff spot this year, Klubnik will need to deliver a standout performance.

In 2023, Cade Klubnik completed 63.9% of his passes for 2,844 yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, while also rushing for 182 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers will need to improve for Clemson to be competitive. Swinney believes Klubnik can elevate his performance, especially after a stronger showing in their bowl game against Kentucky. He remains optimistic that this positive momentum will carry into the new season.

“All of that from last year carried into the off-season,” Swinney said. “While you can’t carry over big plays or touchdowns, the momentum provided a boost as we evaluated ourselves and focused on improvements.”

Clemson will encounter a tough test in their season opener against the Georgia Bulldogs. If Cade Klubnik can make substantial improvements and emerge as a strong quarterback, the Tigers could pose a serious threat. However, if he struggles, Clemson may be headed for another disappointing season.
