Oklahoma’s Kip Lewis Selected as SEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Oklahoma junior linebacker Kip Lewis has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his pivotal interception in the Sooners’ 27-21 victory at Auburn on Saturday.
Lewis picked off a pass from Auburn’s Payton Thorne and raced 63 yards for a touchdown, putting Oklahoma ahead 22-21 with just 4:06 remaining. After successfully converting a 2-point attempt, the Sooners took a 24-21 lead after trailing 21-10 at the start of the fourth quarter. This marked Lewis’s first career interception, and his 63-yard return stands as the fourth-longest touchdown return by a linebacker in the program’s history.
