General Manager Tom Telesco of the Las Vegas Raiders has likely been inundated with calls since the organization announced its willingness to trade standout receiver Davante Adams. Reports indicate that as many as ten teams are expressing interest in acquiring the three-time All-Pro wide receiver. The early frontrunners for his services appear to be the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets, both of whom have quarterbacks that were once teammates of Adams.
Davante Adams trade
While most teams may hesitate to part with significant assets and take on Davante Adams’ $17 million salary, the Raiders are reportedly asking for a second-round pick in return. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes the Jets could seriously pursue a reunion between Adams and Aaron Rodgers, hinting at what they might be willing to offer.
“While the Raiders are firm on acquiring a second-round pick for Adams, the Jets have two third-round picks and two sixth-round picks in 2025,” Schefter noted. He also mentioned that the Jets have wide receiver Mike Williams, who was drafted in 2017 by Raiders general manager Tom Telesco during his tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers. This connection could play a crucial role in negotiations as the Jets look to strengthen their roster.
Raiders set to acquire a second round picker
There’s a reason Adam Schefter, widely regarded as the most knowledgeable NFL insider, is mentioning Mike Williams in the context of a potential trade. If he’s hinting at New York’s surplus of second- and sixth-round picks, it’s likely those are the selections the Jets are willing to part with in negotiations for Adams. Many speculate that Adams, due to his close relationship with Aaron Rodgers, would be inclined to join the Jets. However, recent reports suggest that the New Orleans Saints are also aggressively pursuing him.
Additionally, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Peter Schrager have identified the Washington Commanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers as two potential dark-horse teams in the race for Adams. With multiple suitors in the mix, it’s clear that the competition for the three-time All-Pro wide receiver is heating up.
