Shedeur Sanders Meets Raiders’ Mark Davis at Aces Game Following Deion’s Remarks.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders attended Friday night’s WNBA playoff game between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, where he had the chance to meet Raiders owner Mark Davis.
Mark Davis remarked to Shedeur, “Who knows? You might be home right now” (via @Gil_OnAir).
Earlier this week, Shedeur’s father and Buffaloes head coach, Deion Sanders, expressed his hope that the Raiders’ quarterback position remains open, potentially allowing the team to pursue a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur is viewed as a top prospect for the upcoming draft, ranked as the No. 2 quarterback on Bleacher Report’s initial big board, just behind Miami’s Cam Ward. With a current record of 2-2 and uncertainty surrounding their quarterback situation, the Raiders could secure an early first-round pick, positioning them to select Shedeur as their future signal-caller.
Before the 2024 season, Deion discussed the prospect of Shedeur joining the Raiders and playing for head coach Antonio Pierce. At Big 12 Media Days at Allegiant Stadium, he said, “That’d be nice. I’m not a gambler, but that would be nice. [The Raiders] have a great head coach and a wonderful president, whom I think I’m meeting today. I’ve been looking around the stadium; it’s impressive.”
He added, “[Antonio Pierce is a] great leader who earned his position. I love what he brings to the table. I don’t want him to lose enough to end up with the chance to draft Shedeur, but if it happens, I wouldn’t mind.”
With a young core missing a quarterback, Shedeur could be the key to revitalizing the Raiders’ playoff hopes.
