Bears Place Bates on IR; Sign Daly and Johnson to Roster.

On Saturday, the Bears placed offensive lineman Ryan Bates on injured reserve, signed long snapper Scott Daly from the practice squad, and elevated receiver Collin Johnson from the practice squad.

Bates shared time at right guard with Nate Davis during last Sunday’s season-opening victory over the Titans at Soldier Field. He will remain on injured reserve for at least four games and is expected to be eligible to return for the Bears’ Week 6 matchup against the Jaguars in London.

Daly will serve as the long snapper for the second consecutive game on Sunday night in Houston, replacing the injured Patrick Scales, who is recovering from back surgery.

Johnson had a standout performance in the Hall of Fame Game on August 1 against the Texans, catching touchdown passes of 20 and nine yards from Brett Rypien in a 21-17 win. However, the 6-6, 222-pound receiver missed the remainder of the preseason due to an injury.

Johnson was elevated to the active roster due to both Keenan Allen (heel) and Rome Odunze (knee) being listed as questionable on the injury report for Sunday night’s game against the Texans, making them game-time decisions.
