BREAKING NEWS: Tragedy Strike As WVU’s Quarterback Suffered Multiple Concussions, Set To Miss Rest of Season

West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene exited the October 19 game against Kansas State at halftime and did not return. He also missed the team’s recent road victory over Arizona, where backup Nicco Marchiol guided the team to a 31-26 win.

On Monday, head coach Neal Brown informed the media that Greene is “still struggling” with an injury that has been characterized as an upper body issue. However, there are rumors suggesting that the situation might be more complicated than it appears.

WVU injury crises worsens

WVU media personality “Mountaineer Paul” from Locked On West Virginia discussed Garrett Greene’s injury on his show on social media platform X/Twitter Wednesday, sharing insights from his sources within the program.

“I’ve been able to independently confirm that it’s likely a concussion. No one has officially reported that yet, but I’ve spoken to several people who say it’s a concussion,” he stated. “I was told it’s a concussion. We’ll see—people we know have indicated this, but the team could still deny it.”

Paul also mentioned that there are whispers from those within the program suggesting that this isn’t Greene’s first head injury of the season and that it may have contributed to his slow start. He emphasized that these are just rumors circulating among people close to the program and have not been officially confirmed.

What to expect going forward

“The rumor going around is that Garrett’s struggles in the first few games were due to a concussion he sustained during camp,” Paul said. “I want to clarify that this is not confirmed; it’s what I’ve heard from someone who was present. I’m not presenting this as fact without further investigation; it’s just something to consider, as I was informed he injured himself during camp.”

Paul also said that there is a possibility if the rumors about multiple concussions are true, it could impact Greene’s ability to return this season.

Quickest recovery

“You know the saying: once you get one concussion, it’s easier to get more,” Paul said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Garrett returns, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if he doesn’t, based on the information he’s receiving.”

Paul mentioned that he “trusts the people I talk to” and added, “If I had a closer connection to Garrett through my sources, I’d feel more confident about it.” Nevertheless, he seems to trust his source. A similar report was also released by an independent WVU media outlet, The Voice of Morgantown, which appears to support these rumors.
