According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team has agreed to a contract extension with cornerback Deommodore Lenoir. The 25-year-old has secured a five-year extension valued at $92 million.

Exciting times for fans

Lenoir, a fifth-round pick (No. 172 overall), has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the 49ers. Despite his draft position, he has become a cornerstone of the team’s secondary. He has started all 29 games for San Francisco since 2023, including both regular season and playoffs, and is currently tied for the team lead in interceptions (two) and passes defended (six) this season.

Lenoir is also highly regarded for his ability to cover top-tier receivers in one-on-one situations. Notably, he made a critical forced fumble in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs last season.

a shade over $18 million per year, Lenoir’s extension now makes him the NFL’s 12th-highest paid cornerback. It also means that another prominent member of the San Francisco secondary may end up leaving as a free agent this offseason.
