POWERFUL TESTIMONY: What The Devil Did When He Appeared To Three Pastors
The devil appeared to three pastors and asked, “If I gave you the power to change something in the past, what would you change?”
The first pastor, filled with strong zeal, answered, “I would stop you from leading Adam and Eve into sin, so humanity wouldn’t be separated from God.”
The second pastor, a man of great compassion, said, “I would prevent you from turning away from God and condemning yourself forever.”
The third pastor, the simplest of them all, didn’t respond directly to the devil. Instead, he knelt, lowered his head, and prayed: “Lord, deliver me from the temptation of what might have been and what was not.”
The devil, shrieking in agony, fled. The other two pastors were puzzled and asked, “Why did you react like that?”
He replied, “First, we should never engage with the enemy.
Second, no one has the power to change the past.
Third, Satan’s goal wasn’t to test our virtue, but to ensnare us in the past, distracting us from the present. The present is the only time God grants us His grace and the opportunity to cooperate with Him in fulfilling His will.”
The greatest demon that holds people back and keeps them from happiness is “what could have been but was not.” The past is in God’s hands, the future belongs to His providence, and only the present is ours to shape. Live today, loving God with all your heart.
