Thanks to UCLA Health, Ethan Overcame Epilepsy and Became a Laker for a Day

A LIFE-CHANGING DIAGNOSIS AT AGE 2

When Ethan was just 2 years old, his parents noticed unusual symptoms—frequent seizures that disrupted his early development and daily life. After extensive medical evaluations, doctors diagnosed him with epilepsy, caused by a stroke he had suffered as an infant.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that leads to unpredictable seizures, and for Ethan, it became a life-altering challenge. His early childhood was filled with hospital visits, medications, and uncertainty.

Ethan’s path to healing began when his family connected with UCLA Health, a long-time partner of the Los Angeles Lakers and a nationally recognized leader in pediatric neurology and epilepsy treatment.

After careful monitoring and consultation, doctors at UCLA determined Ethan was a candidate for brain surgery—a complex but potentially life-changing procedure. With incredible courage and the support of expert surgeons, Ethan underwent the operation.

A SEIZURE-FREE FUTURE

The results were nothing short of miraculous.

Since the surgery, Ethan has been seizure-free. He’s returned to the joys of childhood—playing, laughing, learning, and dreaming—without the shadow of epilepsy looming over him. His family calls the surgery a “second chance at life,” and his doctors describe his recovery as inspiring.

Dressed in a custom Lakers jersey, Ethan was welcomed to the arena with cheers from fans and players alike.
