Breaking Tennessee Five-star planning to Move

It is now only a matter of days before one of Tennessee’s top targets announces his college choice. The Vols are one of the six teams still in the running for five-star Class of 2024 offensive tackle Jordan Seaton of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Seaton announced on Monday night via posts on his social media accounts that he will be making his commitment known on Thursday.

Six finalists will be considered by the 6-foot-5, 287-pound Seaton: Maryland, Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. He recently concluded an official visit to Ohio State on Monday.

He has also taken official visits to Alabama, Colorado, Florida and Tennessee. The Vols hosted him on an official visit the weekend of Nov. 18 to attend their home game against Georgia. He made his first trip to Knoxville the weekend of Sept. 30 to attend Tennessee’s win over South Carolina.

Seaton has received scholarship offers from more than 30 schools, including all six of the schools he’s strongly considering. He’s a five-star prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, where he’s ranked the No. 15 overall player and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2024 class. He’s also rated a five-star prospect by 247Sports, where he’s ranked the No. 30 overall player and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2024 class.

Following his official visit to Tennessee more than two weeks ago, Seaton didn’t tip his hand on exactly where the Vols stood among his favorites. But he said they were “in a good spot” coming out of his second trip to Knoxville in less than two months, and he said they had “a real shot” at landing him.

After attending Tennessee’s 41-20 win over South Carolina nearly two months earlier, he said he was happy to show his parents every aspect of the Vols’ program during his official visit to Knoxville. He again came away impressed by the game-day atmosphere inside Neyland Stadium, along with what he heard from Tennessee coach Josh Heupel‘s staff.

“It’s actually a very good deal that I got to bring my whole family out with me,” Seaton said. “Just having them to experience everything that I’ve experienced is everything you look for.

You don’t really do stuff for yourself. You do it for others, so just being able to share my experience with my family means a lot to me.”

Both of the Vols’ starting tackles sat out Tennessee’s game against Georgia because of injuries. That only underscored to Seaton that the Vols still need more depth at the position and that he could compete for early playing time on their offensive line.

“There’s definitely a need for help on the front five, on both sides of the ball,” he said last month. “D-line, they did a good job, but they’re losing guys in the secondary. A DB got hurt. A walk-on played, so I feel like once Coach Heup gets that depth that he’s talking about — and he’s doing a really good job with the ‘24 class — you guys will start to see turnarounds in the program and bring it back to what it used to be back when Peyton Manning was here.”

The Vols remain high on his list, he said, because of “just the consistency that they have — with the recruitment process, with me.”

Seaton said last month that he was planning to announce his college decision on Dec. 20, the first day of the Early Signing Period, before arriving at the school of his choice in January as an early enrollee. But he now has moved up his timeline for picking a school coming off his trip to Ohio State.
