When the recruiting cycle is coming to a finish, it’s always important to keep track of the trips head coaches make, and Matt Rhule made an interesting one on Monday.

The head coach of Nebraska and wide receivers coach Garret McGuire visited McKinney High School in Texas, where 2025 cornerback Zay Gentry is a target for the Huskers. Gentry also happened to drop a top group that included Nebraska earlier this month.

On Wednesday, the Husker247 Podcast came together in full strength to talk about recruiting, the team’s potential for improvement, and Nebraska’s current 2024 roster.

Michael Bruntz, Brian Christopherson, and Mike Schaefer open things up by talking about the roster changes, the Huskers’ plans for the spring, potential position changes, and noteworthy player movement.

Schaefer then poses a question to the group: which position group still worries you and which one appears to be improving from 2023?

Following those responses, the conversation shifts to recruiting, during which Bruntz and Schaefer discuss the recent unofficial visits and the significance of Matt Rhule’s destinations during the final week of January.

On Thursday, No. 6 Wisconsin (16-4, 8-1) takes on Nebraska (15-6, 5-5) to start a stretch of three away games in their next four games.

Thanks to one of the finest offensive performances in programme history, the Badgers won the first meeting 88–72 in Madison. With 88 points, UW recorded its highest point total in a Big Ten Conference game since 2011. The Badgers defeated the Cornhuskers in their last two games by making an outstanding 13 of 26 3-pointers.

UW will try to accomplish what has eluded every Big Ten team this year: victory in Lincoln. This season, NU is 13-1 at home, including 5-0 in Big Ten play. In this series, the Badgers have won eight of the last ten meetings, although their record at Pinnacle Bank Arena is at 9-9.
