Mike Rozier leaves Nebraska and logs into a transfer portal after an indeterminate suspension.

Mike Rozier , a running back for Nebraska, used the transfer portal on Wednesday after being suspended by head coach Matt Rhule for the first day of preseason play.
Mike Rozier was anticipated to be the cornerstone of the Cornhuskers’ secondary after finishing as the team’s second-leading tackler in the previous campaign. Farmer’s name is in the gateway, a Nebraska spokesperson verified.

When the Cornhuskers resumed practice on Monday, the 6-foot-3 junior was not included in the team’s 120-man roster. Rhule only stated that Farmer’s suspension was due to his inability to follow team rules.

Following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in November of last year, Farmer was suspended by the former coaching staff from the game versus Michigan.
Additionally, Rhule disclosed that Josh Fleeks, a wide receiver who transferred from Baylor, was “significantly” overweight on Sunday and will not be allowed to play until he loses weight.

Expected to play a rotational role in the defensive line, Brodie Tagaloa will likely out for the season due to injuries he received in a vehicle accident two weeks ago. According to Rhule, Tagaloa needed knee surgery and had cuts on his face.

On Monday, head coach Matt Rhule announced that Farmer would be suspended indefinitely. “Mike Rozier was suspended in the summer by us just for simple things, nothing major,” he said during a fall camp press conference.

In 2022, Mike Rozier played in 11 games, finishing the season with 73 total tackles, the second-most on the team. He also had four pass breakups and one interception. Last year,  and interim head coach Mickey Joseph suspended him for one game.
