and the New England Patriots have reached an agreement on a one-year, $8 million contract. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network Insider, the contract has incentives worth up to $12 million.The 31-year-old Brissett was the Pats’ third-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He is expected to return to contend for a starting position or serve as a stand-in for an impending acquisition. After sending Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, New England started to reassemble its quarterback room.

Now, an eight-year veteran who recently finished an outstanding 2023 season with the Washington Commanders off the bench has returned.

Brissett took over for Sam Howell and completed three outings with 224 yards and three touchdowns through the air.A season after making 11 starts for the Cleveland Browns when Deshaun Watson was suspended, he made his debut in Washington.

During his one year in Cleveland, Brissett completed 12 passes for touchdowns and six interceptions. Brissett is the first step in rebuilding the Patriots QB room.

He is a proven commodity in crunch, and his one-season agreement suggests that New England may be eyeing the upcoming draft for its hopeful future dynasty.
